Reporting and Investigation of Child Sexual Abuse Outside the Family

Contact Your Local Police
As the victim, the following should be provided. If it is not, ask for it.
  • Put in contact with the specialist in child sexual abuse and/or victim advocate
  • Offered immediate crisis intervention and if available, follow-up counseling
  • Informed of the victim's rights
  • Assistance with protective orders and criminal complaints
  • Assistance throughout the investigation and prosecution of the offender
  • Assistance in filing for victim compensation benefits
  • Provided referral contact information to supportive community services
  • Assistance in safety planning
